Find out how any medical practice or health-related business can benefit from a Facebook Messenger bot. What can a healthcare chatbot do?

Healthcare Chatbot: Save Time, Improve Patient CX

Users not only chat with family and friends via messengers. They also contact brands to learn more about products and services, make purchases, and book appointments. As a result, businesses use messengers to tell about their brands and products, offer customer support, collect clients’ feedback and sell more. According to [a Facebook study](https://www.facebook.com/business/news/insights/more-than-a-message-the-evolution-of-conversation), 53% of consumers are more likely to shop with a business they can message. With the Facebook Messenger automation, you can create a consistent, helpful, constantly available presence on multiple channels.

A chatbot fills the gaps and appears in places where your target audience spends time: in Facebook feeds, on Instagram, or your website. Users enjoy your brand’s constant availability by interacting with the familiar interface on various channels. This article will explore why the brand’s website should be the first place you embed automation. We will compare the Website Messenger bot and a traditional website chat window. And we will show you how to set up a Messenger bot on your website in a few clicks.

## How a Messenger bot looks on your website

There are 2.9 billion Facebook Messenger active users, ranked by the number of users in 2022. They are familiar with its interface and know how it works. Instead of creating a chat window on your website, you let your clients use Messenger to reach out to you. After adding, a Messenger logo appears on your website. Then, users click it and open a conversation with your bot. That way, users engage with your chatbot directly on your website and have a long-form interactive conversation. With Chatfuel, you use Messenger automation for different purposes, depending on your industry and needs.

## Who should add a chatbot to their websites

A Messenger chatbot has two prominent use cases: automating FAQs and product recommendations. You can set up multiple conversational scenarios on different pages of your website. That way, each conversation with your chatbot will be more relevant to a user. For example, clients take a quiz on your product page, get a personalized recommendation, and buy your product. And on your page for wholesalers, clients enter a different business-to-business conversation.

You can make all interactions with every person who visits your website meaningful. Share information, answer questions, recommend products, and guide visitors through a conversion. Whatever works [for your business.](https://chatfuel.com/blog/top-9-reasons-your-business-needs-a-chatbot) Here are some use cases of how our clients from different industries used Messenger automation:

## How to set up a free Messenger bot on your website

A Messenger chatbot on your website is a point where users start a conversation with your bot. In Chatfuel, we call them Entry Points. To add a Messenger bot to your website, you’ll need to set up a Customer Chat Entry Point:

1. Go to Automation → Flows and create a Customer Chat Entry Point.

2. Click next to the Messenger symbol to open a settings panel.

3. Click Copy Code.

4. Paste the copied code into your website.

Ensure to toggle the switch on to activate the Entry Point and insert the code right after the opening tag on each page where you want the plugin to appear. Plugin — is an extension that adds new functions to a host program. For example, you add a Customer Chat Plugin to your website by pasting the copied code into your website. Now your customers can interact with your business anytime they see a familiar Messenger logo. See the detailed tutorial on adding a Messenger chatbot [here](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5573653-add-a-chatbot-to-your-website).

## How a website chatbot works

Visitors see a Messenger window on your website, inviting them to engage. If they decide to begin the chat, they continue with their Facebook account or as a guest:

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/xs_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/sm_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/md_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/lg_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/xl_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp 2080w" width="2080" height="1168" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea/original_add_a_messenger_chatbot_to_your_website_1_80789bcfea.webp" alt="Messenger chat interface on website"><figcaption>Messenger interface after visitors begin the chat</figcaption></figure>

### With Facebook account

When users choose this option, they let your bot use their Facebook profile data. For example, name and timezone so that your automation personalizes the chat using [attributes](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/5573554-attributes). In addition, the chat’s history is saved in users' Messenger, and they can continue the conversation later via Messenger. For example, users decide to do it after leaving your website. In that case, all their previous interactions with the bot on your website will be accessible.

### As a guest

When users choose a Guest mode, a temporary guest account is created. Your bot doesn’t get their Facebook account information. You can’t message guest users after they end a chat with your bot or after 24 hours from creation, depending on which came first. The conversation remains in your inbox until you delete it.

We recommend creating different flows for guests and logged-in users. For example, you only have one flow, personalized with attributes. However, since your bot doesn’t have access to a guest user’s profile data, it can’t fill in values for the attributes. The result could be an incomplete or even confusing experience for that user. With the Customer Chat Entry Point, you can create two different flows for logged-in and guest-mode users.

## Website Messenger bot VS. Traditional website chat window

Both aim to inform or assist visitors and move them along the funnel. But a Messenger chat window has several unique advantages:

- **A channel for future communication.** Once a logged-in user responds to your website Messenger bot, you’ll be able to reach them via bot again in the future. Gather their contacts with the Chatfuel plugins and Export data [from the chatbot to Google Sheets](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2708726-export-data-from-chatfuel-to-google-sheets).

- **Seamless conversations.** A traditional website chat starts from scratch every time, even if the same user comes back to your website. With a Messenger bot, the conversation has context. Users logged into Facebook see the previous messages exchanged with your bot. Also, they can chat with your bot via Messenger even after leaving your website.

- **Access to profile information.** Once users continue the conversation with your bot with Facebook, you can access their profile information in the [People tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575151-people-tab?utm_landing=blog-posts%2Fadd-a-messenger-chatbot-to-your-website) in Chatfuel. Use this data to segment users with attributes, and [retarget them](https://chatfuel.com/blog/sponsored-messages-guide-to-reengaging-chatbot-subscribers) accordingly later.

- **Improved user experience.** Users recognize the familiar interface of Messenger and enjoy that same rich media experience.

- **Full chatbot functionality.** Any functionality you build into your bot is available on your website, including the ability to [hand over the conversation](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat?utm_landing=blog-posts%2Fadd-a-messenger-chatbot-to-your-website) to a live agent to close the deal.

## Get more value from your website traffic

Add a free Messenger bot to your website in 4 steps

Running a restaurant has been quite a challenging task for the last several years. Restaurant business owners face various issues: price rise, labor shortage, and different limitations. One of the ways to cope with it is to optimize the processes.

In this article, we’ll share optimal solutions for building your dream business and ideas on using chatbots for more profit.

## Make your bot answer questions for you

According to a [research](https://www.superoffice.com/blog/response-times) of 3,200 consumers, 46% expect companies to respond faster than 4 hours. So, you can’t ignore direct messages and spend hours a day answering the same questions manually. But a chatbot can do it automatically.

With FAQs automation, you can improve office productivity by giving your staff more time to focus on other goals. In addition, the brand’s response rate and customer engagement improve because people feel more valued when they get quick responses.

A well-designed chatbot answers up to [80% of routine questions](https://www.invespcro.com/blog/chatbots-customer-service/) in your restaurant, bar, coffee shop, food truck, or food-delivery business. It can do this based on pre-defined questions and answers or using artificial intelligence to handle free-form inquiries. So naturally, the easier and friendlier you make the process of learning about your food-industry business, the better the customer experience will be

## Catch all comments and re-engage your clients

People expect to get discounts as they used to during the pandemic as a reward for using online resources and apps. [Comments Autoreply Entry Point](https://chatfuel.com/blog/how-to-turn-facebook-post-commenters-into-customers) is a great option to reach new people with a coupon or a special offer. Apply it to a specific Facebook post on your Page. Then, those who comment on it will receive a message from your bot with the discount or a coupon. Those people can now visit your restaurant and redeem it. Plus, you can re-engage them via bot with more offers in the future.

You can also re-engage inactive bot users. By Facebook Messenger policies, you can send promotional content for free within a 24-hour window since their last interaction with your chatbot. After that, you can pay to send a [sponsored message](https://chatfuel.com/blog/sponsored-messages-guide-to-reengaging-chatbot-subscribers) to re-engage inactive users — reopening that 24-hour window. For example, you can announce a new menu item, a new location, or a promotion, like a special Valentine’s Day dinner or a “kids eat free” deal. Use our Segment Sync feature to manage your bot audience so that you can send relevant messages to particular target groups.

## Automation plus optimization

Let your staff be more efficient and make your chatbot deal with constant phone calls and emails from people who want to make a reservation. If you offer multiple services, like event spaces or catering, your bot can gather lead information from users looking for information on related topics.

Your chatbot can ask questions, save and [export all responses to a Google Sheet](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2708726-export-data-from-chatfuel-to-google-sheets), and email you all data about new leads. Once you get detailed lead information, you can reach out personally to seal the deal.

These solutions leave you much room for maneuver and lower the operational costs. And these are only a tiny part of a plan. The significant advantage of Chatfuel is that we collect detailed statistics with our automation, which helps you deal with the most extensive catering issue — optimization.

[Fred Kirvan](https://www.forbes.com/sites/garyocchiogrosso/2022/03/16/trends-affecting-the-restaurant-industry-in-2022/?sh=2478900851e2) of New Jersey Kirvan consulting shares:

> “Now more than ever, it’s vital that you analyze the data available to ensure your business is fully optimized. For example, valuable information exists within your point of sale to help determine what changes could streamline your menu offerings. Streamlining your menu offering could result in improved profitability, the need for less staff, and fewer items from your distributor, so you’re using more of what you do use. But, I often find that business owners aren’t using the data to drive the decisions that could help them navigate these challenging times.”

If you use Instagram for business, you should know about Instagram Direct. It’s a destination in Ads Manager that pushes people to your business’s direct-message inbox on Instagram.

Yes, you’ll have to respond manually to messages you get this way. But it gives your brand a unique opportunity to experiment with conversational commerce on another hugely popular social platform. Use this chance to get more chat interactions with users in a new place and see where it takes you.

So today, we’ll be covering the ins and outs of this ad type and another similar one you may find useful. Read on to learn about setting up:

1. Instagram Direct ads,

2. Instagram ads that click to your Messenger bot.

## Instagram Direct ads

Instagram Direct is an ad placement for the Instagram feed. When a user clicks this ad, they move to your direct-message inbox, where they can start a one-on-one conversation with your brand.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/lg_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/md_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/sm_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/xl_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 1932w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/xs_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/lg_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/md_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/sm_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/xl_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 1932w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/xs_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/original_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 1932w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/thumbnail_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/thumbnail_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 194w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/original_Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.webp 1932w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png 1932w" width="1932" height="1554" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814/Use_Instagram_ads_1_1_ca883e2814.png" alt="Use Instagram ads 1-1.png"><figcaption>Manual placements on Ads Manager.</figcaption></figure>

### Who you should run Instagram Direct ads

Anyone who wants to get their content in front of Instagram’s one billion+ users can try out Instagram Direct ads. However, we see them being especially effective for eCommerce businesses on Instagram and agencies that work with e-commerce brands.

We also expect that those selling big-ticket items online might find more value from this ad type because:

- The number of users messaging you with serious inquiries will be lower and more manageable for you to respond to manually.

- These users who do engage with an Instagram Direct ad will likely be more valuable because messaging you about a big-ticket product or service shows higher intent. Once they reach out, you’re in a prime position to nurture them towards a purchase personally.

### How to set up Instagram Direct ads

The beauty of Facebook and Instagram is that you can set up ads for both platforms in one place: Facebook Ads Manager. So head there to get started. Then:

1. Go to [Ad Creation](https://business.facebook.com/ads/manage/powereditor/creation) in Ads Manager.

2. Choose a campaign objective and click **Continue**.

3. Edit your campaign name and other details. Then click **Next**.

4. In the **Conversion** section, select the following:

\- **Messaging Apps** as Conversion location,

\- **Click to message** as your ad type,

    \- **Instagram** under Messaging Apps.

5. Customize the following sections:

    \- Optimization & delivery,

    \- Budget & schedule,

    \- Audience,

    \- Placements.

    Then, click **Next**.

6. Customize your ad name, setup, creative, message template, and tracking.

    When you’re ready, click **Publish**.

Instagram Direct ads won’t appear anywhere on Facebook. That way, those who click will arrive at your DMs without having to switch apps. To run other types of Instagram ads (like those that lead to landing pages), Facebook doesn’t require you to have an actual Instagram account. Instead, they’ll just use your Facebook Page name and profile photo to associate it with you. But since Instagram Direct ads will lead users to your DMs, you need an existing account to have an inbox and respond.

## Ads that click to Messenger on Instagram

You’ve probably explored or currently use Ads that click to Messenger ads to bring new users to your chatbot: ads that show up on Facebook and direct users to your bot in Messenger.

Now, there is a way to have these ads appear on Instagram instead and still direct users to your Messenger chatbot. To try it out for your business, we encourage you to start with a smaller budget, around $5-15 per day.

Automatically redirecting users from the Instagram app to the separate Messenger app can be jarring. You might see a significant drop-off as a result. Yes, Ads that click to Messenger ads redirect to the Messenger app too. But both apps are clearly within the Facebook ecosystem, so it’s less unexpected. Not every user is actively aware that  Meta owns both Facebook and Instagram, so they may think the app switch is a mistake or spam and exit the entire process.

### Who should run Ads that click to Messenger on Instagram

These ads will be most helpful if:

✔️ You’ve built a Messenger bot that can effectively engage and convert users. Otherwise, there’s no sense in paying to send new users there.

✔️ You (or your customer, [if you’re an agency](https://chatfuel.com/blog/6-reasons-marketing-agencies-should-offer-chatbot-services)) offer something appealing to the Instagram audience, a predominantly younger demographic. If not, focusing on Facebook ad placements may be more effective.

### How to set up Ads that click to Messenger for Instagram

1. In Facebook Ads Manager, create a new ad and choose **Messaging Apps** as  the conversion location and **Click to message** as your ad type.

2. Select **Messenger** under **Messaging Apps**.

3. Customize the following sections:

    \- Optimization & delivery,

    \- Budget & schedule,

    \- Audience.

4. In the **Placements** section, deselect the Facebook and Messenger placements.

Then, decide where on Instagram you want your ad to show: Feeds, Stories and Reels, etc., and click **Next**.

5. Customize your ad name, setup, creative, message template, and tracking.

    When you’re ready, click **Publish**.

### How to link your Messenger chatbot to your Ads that click to Messenger on Instagram using the JSON

1. Go to [**Chatfuel**](http://dashboard.chatfuel.com/) → **Automation** → **Flows**. Open existing Messenger flow, or add a new one.

2. Add **Click-to-Messenger Ads JSON** entry point. Customize the greeting — the first thing users will see when they arrive at Messenger from Instagram.

Make sure it relates to the content of your ad creative so people know they’re in the right place after the app switch. The greeting should also encourage users to respond and continue the conversation, for example, by choosing one of the **Quick Reply** buttons.

3. Click **Copy greeting as JSON code** on the entry point.

4. Open your ad on Ads Manager → **Message template** → **Advanced setup** → **Edit**.

5. Paste the copied JSON code and click **Save and finish**.

When you’re ready to launch your ad, click **Publish**. Now, powerful Meta tools for ads are supercharged with Chatfuel automation to boost your Return on investment (ROI.)

In addition, your ad will be displayed only to people with Messenger installed. So Meta won’t waste any of your ad spend by showing them to users who don’t already have the app on their device.

Instagram Ads: Drive Users to DMs & Messenger Bot

A great product attracts people. And it the support team gets more overwhelmed with a high customer flow. When it comes to e-commerce, the pressure might be even higher because consumers can quickly ask a question and expect a quick response. And if they don’t get it, most likely, they’ll leave. No matter how great the product is.

[3D Mats](https://shop.3dmats.com) is a Taiwanese e-commerce retailer that faced this problem. They design and sell car accessories such as floor mats, sunshades, and roof racks, focusing on constantly innovating and releasing high-quality items for their customers. Looking for a solution, 3D Mats hired GoSky AI agency to build a chatbot for their brand. The bot produced such excellent results for 3D Mats that it won second prize in our 2019 E-commerce Chatbot Competition. Here are a few metrics:

- The yearly average return on ad spend (ROAS) blasts to 999%.
- 47% of customers purchase other recommended products.
- The repurchase rate has climbed to 30%.

Let’s have a look at their journey.

## Busy support team, ineffective both marketing and ads

The 3D Mats support agents spent most of their time answering repetitive common questions. For example, consumers asked about the products, delivery details, and other things that are called FAQs. Of course, answering those is essential, but that meant less time to respond to more complex inquiries, plus longer waiting time for all customers.

Despite communicating with consumers a lot, the 3D Mats team didn’t have a good feel for who their ideal customer was. So, it was hard for them to market effectively. Not understanding their target audience meant their Facebook ads weren’t too successful. Their retargeting ads were getting pricey, even though they weren’t doing much to increase sales for their store.

All these problems took the 3D Mats team to the point where they needed an innovative but inexpensive solution. So, they decided to try automation.

## One chatbot solves three problems

Initially, the GoSky team realized that all these problems were connected. So, they set up a strategy for solving them all and implemented it in their chatbot for 3D Mats. “Chatfuel Dashboard is very stable and trust-worthy. It brings an enjoyable user experience to the bot builder and the bot users, ” Dora Tseng from GoSky AI explains why they chose Chatfuel for this and other projects.

Let’s look at how the GoSky team broke down the task into three steps and used powerful Chatfuel tools and plugins for each problem.

### 1\. Automating FAQs and product recommendation

3D Mats shared that most of the FAQs they receive from the comments. So, the GoSky team used a Comments Autoreply feature in their Chatfuel automation. A chatbot can send a private message to all commenters or only those who used a specific keyword in their comment. This rule can be applied to all posts or only particular ones. If you already use Chatfuel automation, you can set the Comments Autoreply feature and check the FAQ templates in your [Dashboard](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com).

### 2\. Understanding the audience

[Click-to-Messenger ads](https://chatfuel.com/blog/create-click-to-messenger-ads-to-drive-traffic-to-your-bot). Tseng calls this feature and chatbots “a perfect match because they lead right to the chatbot, avoiding necessary redirect.” GoSky AI used bot links to make this process even smoother. For example, when users click a product ad, a link takes them to that part of the bot containing information about that product. That way, users find what they need in one click, so conversion rates increase.

[Save to Google Sheets plugin.](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/2708726-export-data-from-chatfuel-to-google-sheets) The 3D Mats chatbot quizzes users about their car and needs. It automatically exports their answers to a Google Sheet. A human agent then checks the responses, finds the right product for the user’s car, and sends them the store link to it via Live Chat. The GoSky team plans to automate the whole product recommendation process to save even more time.

### 3\. Improving the ad campaigns

[Lookalike audiences](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575719-how-to-create-facebook-and-instagram-ads). On Facebook, you can target new people who are most likely to be interested in your ad — and most likely to convert. Chatfuel users have access to this data in the People tab. They can export it to Facebook and use it in their ads.

A/B Test plugin. GoSky AI used this feature for the brand’s holiday campaign to find the most effective way to send a promo code to users. They tried three options: sending it immediately, sending it later via [sequences](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/908868-sequences), and sharing it with a countdown timer. The results showed that the Sequence flow worked best, as it got them the most conversions. They used that method for all future users and **increased monthly sales by 29%**!

## Beyond expectations

Eventually, the 3D Mats team had much more time because the automation was now instantly responding to common questions. Once a Chatfuel bot starts a conversation with a new user, it saves their profile information in the [People tab](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575151-people-tab). The more new users the 3D Mats chatbot interacted with, the more data the team had to analyze. That insight allowed them to solve their second problem. Eventually, 3D Mats was able to run better ads and produce more relevant content, helping solve the third problem. The bot GoSky built help solved 3D Mats’ problems and accomplish their goals:

1. The chatbot’s FAQs function and quiz feature have **reduced repetitive inquiries by 70%**. Once they automate the entire process, GoSky estimates that number will jump to 95%! The 3D Mats support team already has much more time to spend on other tasks, and that time will only increase.
2. Suggesting products has been a super effective function of the bot, too. 47% of customers now also purchase other recommended products. 3D Mats’ **repurchase rate has climbed to 30%**. The bot personalizes the service and [keeps customers coming back](https://chatfuel.com/blog/customer-loyalty-chatbot).
3. The audience data that the 3D Mats chatbot gathered gave their Facebook ad performance a significant boost. Their yearly average return on ad spend **(ROAS) is now 999%**.

## The brand

Photobooth Deluxe is a German company founded by Jürgen Mayr. This entrepreneur began his career as a wedding photographer, but decided he wanted to do things a bit differently than others in the industry.

Years ago, Mayr began to notice the rise in popularity of photo booths for weddings in Asia and the US. He got a friend to build him a prototype, and in 2013, he started building his own. From then on, many of his fellow wedding photographers who saw them wanted one for their own businesses.

Since then, Mayr has built and sold 500 photo-booth systems across Europe—but that’s not the key source of his income today. Instead, it’s supplies (the specialized ink and paper for the photo booths) that he sells regularly to past clients. The Messenger bot he built now handles all these transactions—and he won first prize in Chatfuel’s [2019 Ecommerce Bot Competition](https://www.facebook.com/groups/chatfuel/permalink/671349200060490/) for it.

## The problem

Pre-chatbot, the procedure for reordering these supplies wasn’t easy for Mayr or his clients. Taking down their information via phone and email to send to the drop-shipper was tedious, and took 10–20 minutes each time. Plus, orders could only be processed when Mayr was available. If he were on vacation or at an event, for example, the orders wouldn’t be shipped until days later when he had time to submit them.

95% of his clients are on Facebook. So when he heard about chatbots, he knew he had to see if one could help him streamline the process. “The goal, ” Mayr explains, “was to enable my clients to order supply materials without my physical presence.”

## The solution

Mayr held the common misconception that you need coding knowledge to build a Messenger chatbot, so he turned to a freelancer for help. But when the end result didn’t turn out well, he decided to take the project on himself. One Friday morning, he set out to build a chatbot with Chatfuel by Sunday night. “If I can get it done in time, great. If not, I’ll treat it as a good experience and know that chatbots aren’t for me, ” Mayr says.

He started with a sea of sticky notes on his wall to help him plan the bot’s flow. It’s a great illustration of his advice for other bot builders, which is that planning is crucial. 90% of the work—[mapping out a logical flow](https://youtu.be/HX-zA-DkPaU)—happens before you even log into Chatfuel. And then once you do: “Do something, and test it, tweak it, and test it again!” says Mayr.

<figure><img srcset="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xs_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/xs_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp 300w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/sm_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/sm_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp 768w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/md_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/md_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp 1280w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/lg_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/lg_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp 1920w, https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/xl_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/xl_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp 2840w" width="3000" height="2000" src="https://storage.googleapis.com/chatfuel-cms-staging/pic/original_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29/original_ecommerce_entrepreneur_uses_chatfuel_bot_to_automate_over_100_000_in_sales_2_c329476e29.webp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The bot he built and fine-tuned then does exactly what he wanted it to. It gathers all the order, shipping, and payment information from first-time clients, and notifies the drop-shipper to ship. For repeat customers, all past information is saved, and the reorder process takes just two taps.

“So if I’m on vacation for two weeks, for example, my clients can still order, they can still get their materials/supplies. When I come back home, all I have to do is write the invoices, ” says Mayr. 🏝️

## The recipe

> “Don’t build a bot a bot to serve you as a vendor; build a bot to serve your clients” — Jürgen Mayr, Photobooth Deluxe founder

These are a few of the features and plugins Mayr used to build his super-effective Messenger chatbot:

- **User attributes.** Mayr uses this Chatfuel feature to keep track of how much each of his clients have spent with him in total. He set an attribute to populate with the total amount, which updates automatically each time an order is placed. Using attributes also gives him the option to [create custom and Lookalike Audiences](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/1575719-how-to-create-facebook-and-instagram-ads/) for [sponsored messages](https://chatfuel.com/blog/sponsored-messages-guide-to-reengaging-chatbot-subscribers/) and other Facebook ads, so he can target his most valuable customers (or find prospects similar to them). *You can now use Segment Sync to send subscriber data for these audiences to Facebook in one click.*

- **Notify Admin via Email plugin.** Each time a client orders through Mayr’s chatbot, it instantly sends an email to him for his records. It also sends one to his drop-shipper, so they can package and ship the order right away.

- [**Sponsored messages**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/sponsored-messages-guide-to-reengaging-chatbot-subscribers/). After a customer places an order, Mayr’s bot asks if they’d like to receive a supply check-in notification in 30 days. Now that Facebook’s policies have changed, he plans to use sponsored messages to send these, which simply ask if the client needs to reorder. Mayr says his customers often forget to stock up on supplies otherwise, so these reminders are helpful for them and bring in more revenue for him. *You can now use our native ads integration to easily set up sponsored messages for your Facebook chatbot.*

- **Third-party API**. The next update Mayr has planned for his bot involves an API from the shipping company he uses. He’s going to connect Chatfuel to it via Zapier or [Integromat](https://www.make.com/en/integrations/chatfuel?fromImt=1&/). That way, the bot can automatically message customers with a tracking number, so they can keep tabs on their shipment. “Always keep the client well informed, and make it easy for him to order, ” advises Mayr.

- [**JSON API**](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/735122-json-api/). It occasionally happened that new-order emails would be missed by the drop-shipper, or would end up in their spam folders. To solve this issue, Mayr [used the JSON API](https://chatfuel.com/blog/json-api-examples/) to integrate Twilio. His drop-shipping company now receives an SMS text triggered by the bot, so they know to look out for a new-order email.

<figure><img><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

He also encourages other bot builders to seek feedback before launching. “Maybe ask a couple of friends to test it. Ask them to be very, very critical with the bot. Ask if there were any steps where they didn’t know what to do, because that means you have to do better there.” And always design with the customer or end user in mind, he adds. “Don’t build a bot to serve you as a vendor; build a bot to serve your clients.”

## The results

> “The quality and ease of service is more important to \[my clients\] than getting the lowest price” –Jürgen Mayr, Photobooth Deluxe founder

Since he implemented the bot, Mayr has **automated over $100,000 in revenue** with his Messenger chatbot. “It’s quite amazing, ” admits Mayr, “because it’s almost hands-free. I don’t have to do a lot. I have to write the invoice at the end; that’s it.” And he’s even working to automate that final step: He’s already asked his invoicing company to consider adding an API for their service.

Mayr also notes that he gets more sales because the ordering process via bot is so simple. Normally clients shop around to check prices with different vendors before ordering photo-booth supplies, he explains. “But I make it so easy for them to reorder, so it doesn’t matter if a certain item is a few euros more.” His clients order anyway, because “the quality and ease of service is more important to them than getting the lowest price.”

## Build a picture-perfect bot for your brand

“Chatfuel is amazing. It’s fun to work with, and you don’t have to have developer skills. You can do a lot just with a logical mind, ” says Mayr. He studied economics and tax law himself, which illustrates that building a Chatfuel Messenger bot without a coding background is completely possible. “If you really need a developer for some advanced functionality, ” he adds, “you can probably find someone in the [Chatfuel community](https://www.facebook.com/groups/chatfuel/). You can do almost everything yourself though; the sky or your brain is the limit!”

## The brand

DECEN Muebles Infantiles is an ecommerce children’s furniture brand based in Mexico. They craft beautiful, high-quality cribs and cradles by hand for sale online. Their mission is to design and build pieces that are safe, sturdy, beautiful, and environmentally sustainable.

## The problem

[DECEN’s](https://decen.com.mx) small team had too many tasks on their plate. They were pleased to be getting more customers than ever, but their Messenger inbox was overflowing with inquiries. The company’s founder Omar Cortes started searching for solutions:

> **“I was already looking for a couple people to join the team just for answering inquiries. Then I found Chatfuel.”** –Omar Cortes, founder

## The solution

“I logged into Chatfuel with my Facebook account, ” Cortes continues, “and I had my own chatbot working by the end of the day.” The bot he built acts as a first line of defense for customer support, but works as a sales funnel and content-marketing opportunity too. It’s designed to:

📝 provide answers to common questions

🔍 let users browse products right within Messenger

🤱🏻 share useful content related to babies and their care

Cortes has used the bot for various successful campaigns to boost sales, generate leads, and increase brand awareness and [customer loyalty](https://chatfuel.com/blog/customer-loyalty-chatbot), too. DECEN’s results from their chatbot were so impressive, they won Chatfuel’s 2017 bot competition! 🏆

> **“I logged into Chatfuel with my Facebook account and I had my own chatbot working by the end of the day.”** –Omar Cortes, founder

## The recipe

“I’ve tried other chatbot platforms and I still find Chatfuel the most useful, reliable, and easy to work with, ” says Cortes. To get the impressive results that helped them grow their brand, the DECEN team used these Chatfuel functions and features:

- [**FAQs**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-for-customer-service). The DECEN team built [an FAQ functionality](https://youtu.be/A499Eeq9Lq8) into their chatbot so it could help with customer inquiries. They included the most common questions plus informative answers, and made them easy to identify with emoji.

- [**Comments Autoreply**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/how-to-turn-facebook-post-commenters-into-customers). DECEN created a post on their Facebook page to announce a giveaway of one of their most popular cribs. To enter, expectant mothers simply had to comment with the month their baby was due. The bot automatically messaged all commenters, engaging even those who didn’t win.

- **Gallery cards.** The furniture pieces DECEN sells are beautiful, so they took advantage of the aesthetics of their products in their chatbot. The team used gallery cards to display eye-catching images of different products, and included details and a link to shop for or share each one.

- **Disable user input.** A [lesser-known Chatfuel feature](https://chatfuel.com/blog/hidden-benefits-of-chatbots) is the ability to disable the composer, which means users won’t be able to send free-text input. It’s a good option for bots that don’t use [AI](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) or the User Input plugin. Because that way, users won’t trigger the [Default Answer](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/4413516-default-answers) message (usually something like *Sorry, I didn’t get that*), which may distract them and prevent them from converting.

## The results

The original goal for the DECEN chatbot was simply to save the support team time and increase efficiency. As **the bot now handles 98% of customer inquiries**, it’s been a major success—but that’s not all it did for the brand. It also helped them:

**📈 Increase sales.** Cortes used to focus his sales efforts on expo shows, but he now uses Chatfuel as a 24/7/365 ecommerce solution. “Today, 80% of total sales come from the bot, ” he shares.

**📧 Get more warm leads.** Remember the Facebook-post giveaway DECEN did? It doubled monthly sales, generated nearly 4,000 qualified leads, and — thanks to the [JSON API plugin](https://chatfuel.com/blog/json-api-examples) — added another 1,000 subscribers to the brand’s MailChimp list!

**❤️ Gain social proof.** The campaign had another benefit, too. The bot messaged entrants who didn’t win, asking them to leave a review. The result was over 100 glowing reviews in just a few days, which “allowed me to sell easily, ” says Cortes.

Business is booming now, so much so that DECEN has just opened their first physical store. However, ecommerce will remain a strong focus for the brand.

> **“I think I have successfully found a great path to sell anything online using Chatfuel, creative content, and an ecommerce site.”** –Omar Cortes, founder

Each Facebook user who comments on your Facebook Business Page posts is a potential customer. But manual replying to each person doesn’t work as an effective sales funnel for many reasons. If interested users don’t get a response about a product on time, they can leave the website and never come back. It might disappoint both sides: unhappy clients and unsuccessful businesses with low sales. But there’s a solution.

Businesses can hire more staff to manage comments or post less on social media. However, it will not be as effective as automation is. In this article, we will tell how to use automation to respond to comments, how it can benefit your business, and show you how to set up the whole process in Chatfuel.

## Types of users' comments

When your customers visit your Facebook Page, they might leave various comments, depending on what they need. Here are the main types of user comments:

- **FAQs.** What’s your location? How to book a table? Are your products cruelty-free? Can I get a refund?

- **Feedback.** Thanks for the t-shirt, it fits me perfectly! However, I didn’t like the book I bought from your store!

- **Contests and giveaways**. If you run a promo, users who want to participate will comment on the promo post.

- **Emoji and others.** Out-of-topic, 'I’m the first' type of comments, words in other languages.

All the comments are equally crucial for user support and communication with customers. If you respond to your clients quickly and answer their questions on time, most likely, your customers will feel welcomed and valued. And most likely, they will make a purchase.

## How automated responses to comments can benefit your business

With automation, you can save lots of resources. You and your team can set up the comment response process the way you prefer. For example, have your bot answer users' FAQs and send them your menu or catalog. Or, thank your customers for positive feedback and send them a promo code. If a user sends a complaint, your bot can redirect them to a live chat, where your team can find out more and find a solution.

Our customers from different industries shared some metrics to show how the Comments Autoreply feature benefited their business. For example, a baby-furniture brand DECEN® got its bot to [**handle 98% of customer inquiries**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/decen-baby-brand-generates-80-of-total-sales-with-messenger-bot). In addition, a meal-kit company HelloFresh [**decreased response time by 76%**](https://chatfuel.com/blog/hellofresh-reduces-support-wait-times-with-chatfuel-messenger-bot) and got 47% more messages on Messenger overall. And there are more happy customers — you can check their cases [here](https://chatfuel.com/blog/category/use-cases).

## Setting up Facebook comments autoreply

Comments Autoreply is a feature in Chatfuel. When users comment on your post, they open a conversation with your bot. You can have your chatbot privately message all commenters or only those who used a specific keyword in their comment. Also, you can apply this rule to all posts or only a particular one. To set it up, go to [Dashboard](https://dashboard.chatfuel.com/sign-in?utm_medium=chatfuel&utm_source=blog&utm_campaign=how-to-turn-facebook-post-commenters-into-customers) and open **Automation** → **Flows**.

In [flows](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/4237017-how-to-build-a-flow), this feature takes the form of an entry point. An entry point is a channel through which you can bring new users to your Facebook chatbot.

### With the Comments Autoreply, you can:

-   Respond to comments (including posts, photos, albums, and videos);

-   Send a public reply to the user’s comment and a private reply in Messenger;

-   Set a delay for the public, private responses, or both;

-   Add multiple public reply options and randomly set your bot to choose one each time;

- Set up a reply and keyword triggers for existing bot users (different from the reply and triggers for new users.)

With these options, you can set AI to answer FAQs, manage contests and giveaways or respond to reviews on your Facebook Page. We recommend setting up simple automation first and adding details later. That way, you can see what’s missing and what to add to make your bot more successful.

Before launching, make sure your bot is [connected to your Business Page](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/3917632-connecting-your-facebook-or-instagram) and that you set up to view replies to posts on that Page.

Also, you’ll get to select and customize:

1. **A Facebook post.** Do you want your bot to reply to comments on every post or a specific one?

2. **Rules.** Do you want your chatbot to reply to every comment on that piece of content or only those containing specific keywords? You’ll have the option to add [keyword groups](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/828883-keywords) for your bot’s replies as rules. You can have different answers for each keyword group if you have multiple or have them all lead to the same response. Or, you can leave the keyword spaces empty to have your Messenger bot reply apply to all comments.

3. **Response.** Here you’ll decide what your chatbot says in response to user comments. It can be a public reply in comments, a private reply via Messenger, or both.

4. **Time.** You can set a time delay if desired or set up separate replies for existing users of your bot versus new users.

## Rules

### Link to posts published on your Page only

This feature won’t work for posts created just for an ad and only existed in Ads Manager *(dark posts)*. You can acquire users for your bot from comments on a boosted post, but only if it was initially published directly to your Page.

### Only top-level comments will trigger the response, not replies

And it’ll only work on the original post, not shared versions of it. Also, note that your bot will never message the same user more than once, no matter how many comments they may have left on that post.

### Stickers and images cannot be tracked

For these acquired users to become bot subscribers, the first interaction must include actual text from both sides. Therefore, your bot’s first message should contain text (same for the user’s first reply). Stickers and images don’t count for this, so use that first message to encourage a text response from users.

### No engagement bait

Broad or irrelevant questions like *'Do you like dogs or cats? '* can bring you more comments. But it’s not worth it in the long run. Facebook will detect it as an [engagement bait](https://www.facebook.com/help/publisher/259911614709806) and punish this with lower reach.

## Tips

### For customer’s feedback and FAQs

Before setting up Comments Autoreply entry point to track your client’s feedback, [enable users to leave reviews](https://www.facebook.com/help/548274415377576?helpref=search&sr=4&query=business%20reviews&search_session_id=58c53c3ea92dd846418ae5fadd8fff10) on your Facebook Page:

1.  **Inbox** → **Automated responses**;

2.  Toggle on one or both of the options under **Respond to feedback**;

3. After this, set up two autoreply rules: one for positive reviews and one for negative reviews.

Use the first rule to thank users for their feedback, offer a discount, [recommend products](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfmQvqtJN9Q&t=2s), or answer their FAQs. With the second one, you can offer a freebie or discount to users to make up for their experience. You can also use the [Live Chat plugin](https://docs.chatfuel.com/en/articles/849315-live-chat) to redirect them to a human agent to resolve the issue and learn what you can do to improve.

### For contests and giveaways

First, create a Facebook post that tells users what to comment to enter. Then set up the Comments Autoreply feature, and you’re ready to go! Your bot will engage with all participants and can reward the winners with a promo code. That way, your brand can get more leads or sales. Or both!

We recommend avoiding **Send** and **Get message** buttons in your posts. They can confuse users by adding extra call-to-action. So, they may not engage at all.

## Start profiting from the engagement on your Facebook Page

How to turn Facebook comments into customers with automation

## The brand

[HelloFresh](https://www.hellofresh.com) is a creative solution for those tired of eating out at restaurants but don’t have the time or know-how to plan and cook meals from scratch. This subscription-box service delivers fresh ingredients to your door and instructions to transform them into delicious meals. HelloFresh helps people enjoy healthy, home-cooked food without the hassle of meal planning and grocery shopping.

## The problem

HelloFresh the US faced two main problems:

1. They needed at least one customer-service agent to monitor incoming Facebook messages round the clock, just to keep up.**‍**
2. **Slow response times.** It took their support team between six and twelve hours to get through all the necessary steps to resolve a customer issue from one of these messages.

Their customer-care team was overworked and could never get ahead. In addition, customers themselves were getting frustrated with the long wait times.

## The solution

In 2017 HelloFresh team started exploring chatbots to improve customer support and engagement. And so, the idea for Freddy the Messenger bot was born. “Within just a few days, I created Freddy out the [customer service bot](https://chatfuel.com/blog/chatbot-for-customer-service) framework,” explains Alex Curtis, Senior Associate on the HelloFresh Social Media Team.

Here’s what the HelloFresh team taught bot Freddy to do:

- **Reply to users.** For Black Friday 2017 and 2018, the team created Facebook promo posts with riddles and questions. Freddy would [automatically respond via Messenger](https://youtu.be/j_s1FoC6HTM) to all users who gave a correct answer and send them a promo code. In 2018, this campaign had **a 64% conversion rate** — meaning that over half of users who received the code used it to place an order!
- **Recommend music.** HelloFresh calls it Get Grooving: when the bot suggests a playlist to match the meal kit the user will be cooking that evening.
- **Share seasonal tips** and blog content around the holidays. They call it their Holiday Hotline, and it’s yet another way to create a unique, helpful experience for prospects and customers.

## The recipe

Freddy has been a hit with HelloFresh prospects and customers — and, their support team has benefited in a big way. To do it, they used these Chatfuel features:

- **Comments Autoreply.** Freddy automatically messaged people who commented on HelloFresh’s page posts. Once the user responds to Freddy’s first message, they become a reachable bot user. This feature was key in several of HelloFresh’s Facebook campaigns.
- **Quick Replies.** That way, users can tap suggested topics instead of having to type. Quick Replies make for a seamless user experience and help keep the conversation on track.
- **Gallery cards**. HelloFresh incorporated gallery cards in their bot, using plenty of bright, colorful graphics to catch a user’s eye.

## The results

In 2018, HelloFresh’s average response time to customer inquiries was five hours. In 2019, it dropped dramatically to one hour and 11 minutes. That’s a **76% decrease** in response times, even though they got **47% more** messages on Messenger overall.

“With our bot, a customer conversation that used to take six to 12 hours now takes just a few minutes to address and sometimes to resolve entirely,” says Curtis. The support team gets more time to deal with complex inquiries instead of answering the same routine ones repeatedly.

Customer satisfaction has increased with the quicker service, and Freddy is creating a positive impression for users in other ways, too. Chatting with the bot is instant, interactive, fun, and helpful, and it makes HelloFresh stand out from the competition.

“Chatfuel streamlined how we handle customer-service inquiries on social media. It lets us provide an incredible experience for our fans that you don’t get anywhere else in the industry. On top of all that, it was easy enough for us to learn without extensive training or experience.”, Curtis shares.
